AI Policy Overview
Oklahoma lawmakers have not adopted many policies directly related to artificial intelligence but have signaled their interest in addressing AI in the future. Governor Stitt signed an executive order on September 25, 2023, creating a task force to study and develop policy recommendations for the responsible deployment of AI and generative AI to improve efficiency and effectiveness in state government. The task force submitted its official report to the governor on December 29, 2023.
Additionally, for the 2023 interim session, the Oklahoma House Government Modernization and Technology Committee discussed policy considerations for AI in October 2023. The Senate Business and Commerce Committee was also assigned AI as an interim study topic in 2023. Finally, the House held a bipartisan study on artificial intelligence on October 10, 2023.

In 2024, Oklahoma enacted a sexual deepfake law (OK HB 3642) that adds to child pornography laws visual depictions of children that have been modified or computer-generated.
